and Designer.
On a rainy April morning in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, I made my entrance onto this large round rock. There was no pyro, no ticker tape parade - none of that pageantry - but there was most certainly adoration from my wonderful parents. I was the second of two boys, and our folks not only cared for and nurtured us, but instilled in us the drive to chase our dreams and pursue our passions.
For me that dream was to become a professional basketball player. So, when my growth spurt came and went rather disappointingly, I fell back on my interest in art. Little did I know that it was really my dream all along.

I had this quirk as a little kid: I found toy packaging, cereal boxes, game cartridges and movie posters absolutely fascinating.

But, I'll be honest, I had nothing indicating that I had artistic talent. I enjoyed art because it was the most fun you could have in school and get graded for it.

It wasn't until I was introduced to the term ”commercial graphic design" on a junior high art class field trip that my future came into focus.

It was with a version of Adobe Photoshop 5.5 that my interest became a full-blown obsession. The digital tools stoked my creative fire and propelled my imagination to create things I couldn’t seem to capture with a pencil and paper.
And then it happened. My first paid work. At the tender age of 13, I designed my first logo. It wasn't anything to write home about, but it was the first of many logos I would go on to design.
From there, the rest was history. I would go to art school, win some student competitions, graduate with a Top 5 portfolio from my class, get published in LogoLounge Vol 4 and Master Library, move to Chicago, celebrate three Stanley Cup and a World Series victory all while working on some pretty cool international campaigns. Not too shabby for a kid from Iowa.
Now, after 18 years of being in the industry and with just as much excitement as I had day one, I just want to continue to making kick ass work with kick ass people.
